Our History

Our story begins in 1908 when Henry Fremy sold his bakery to Christy Roeck. Christy and his wife, Helen, operated it until his death in August of 1949. Leon Roeck, a nephew of Christy’s, who was raised by Christy and Helen from the age of six, started to work at the bakery, part-time, after completing the 6th grade. After Christy died, Leon and his wife, Edna purchased and operated Roeck’s Bakery until 1965. In 1965, Leon and Edna incorporated the business with their two sons, Chris and James. The business was then run by all four of them until Leon’s death in 1972. In January of 1978, Chris and his wife Judith bought out Edna and James to become sole owners of the bakery. Chris and Judy sold the bakery to their youngest son, Jared and his wife, Sandra, in 2000. Jared is the fourth generation Roeck to operate the bakery. He received his baking degree in 1988 from Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis. After graduation, he worked closely with his father for 12 years until Chris’s retirement.

Now Jared and Sandra’s son works side-by-side with them to continue to give you the same traditional bakery of their family.
